Advanced marine energy systems. Independent diagnostics. Applied R&D for the next generation of maritime technology.

Research Areas

What We Build

Four applied R&D tracks. Each produces deployable technology, not just papers.

Marine Energy Systems

Sodium-ion battery systems purpose-built for marine applications. Surge-rated for gyroscopic stabilizer loads. Non-flammable chemistry, wide temperature tolerance, 3,000+ cycle life. Deployed commercially as Salty Marine SALT START™.

Sodium-Ion BMS Engineering Surge Profiling

Independent Diagnostics

OEM-agnostic evaluation protocols for marine gyro stabilizers, propulsion, and control systems. Systematic load analysis, failure mode identification, and replacement pathway assessment — deployed commercially as UpgradeGyro.

Load Analysis Failure Modes Multi-Brand

Energy Automation

Intelligent power orchestration for multi-source marine electrical systems. Automated load shedding, predictive runtime modeling, remote telemetry. Real-time SOC monitoring integrated across battery, generator, shore power, and solar inputs.

Power Orchestration Telemetry Automation

Litigation Technology

Applied AI for legal evidence intelligence, docket monitoring, and timeline reconstruction. Built on the PREDICATE engine — deployed commercially as HelmLegal. Designed for pro se litigants and small legal teams at enterprise intelligence scale.

About STAR

Built From the Field Up

Starboard Tech & Research Inc. (STAR) is the R&D arm of Starboard Tech Group (STG), a diversified maritime holding company based in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Every technology STAR develops originates from a real operational problem encountered in the field — not a lab hypothesis.

Our work on sodium-ion marine batteries began when OEM solutions proved inadequate for stabilizer anchor loads. Our diagnostics platform was built because OEM service monopolies left vessel owners without independent expert assessment. Every product exists because someone needed it and no one else was building it right.
